Tongue & Groove: Secrets

October 4–27
Tongue & Groove performs spontaneous theater, from hilarious to heartbreaking, inspired by real life experiences.
In October’s Secrets show, each audience member is given an index card, a pen, and a provocative prompt: “Share a secret you keep.” Encouraged to answer honestly, the audience anonymously submits their responses, which are randomly drawn by the actors and read aloud. The ensemble then spontaneously performs a montage of funny and touching scenes & monologues inspired by their audience-collaborators’ submissions, exploring the experiences that connect us all.
Created & Directed by Bobbi Block.
BYOB, Ages 18+
65 minutes (no intermission)
Review Quotes
"I was BLOWN AWAY! I have never been disappointed by T&G, and can't say that of many other companies, improv or not. This is great theatre, acted with soul-baring sincerity, intelligence, and humor. GO SEE THIS!"
"The ensemble created beautiful scenes of sincerity and compassion and also created ridiculously hilarious scenes ... I couldn’t help but sit there and secretly hope that my card would be the next one drawn."
"What I find consistent in Tongue & Groove...is their insight into genuine human feelings and situations, even as they make us laugh. They don't contrive theatrical spectacle with unlikely coincidences for quick laughs; they probe real life in all its humor and sadness, glory and shame."
"[Tongue & Groove] is a talented, quick-witted ensemble... rich in originality. Every time an actor reaches for a card, anticipation levels rise in wonder of whose will be drawn next. A night filled with irreverence and laughter... with plenty of fodder for post-show discussions."
